Conference / Workshop
Drought Risk & Drought Risk Management in Romania and in Europe
Organizer: Romanian Ministry of Environments, Water and Forests, Romanian Waters and World Bank

A severe drought affected Europe in 2022 with significant impacts on society, the environment, and the economy. Also Romania was highly affected and experienced huge losses in agriculture, a drop in energy production, increased forest fires, disruptions in water supply and many months of restriction on riverine transport on the Danube. The drought showed Europe’s and Romania’s vulnerability to these events and illustrated the need to prepare.

To better understand these vulnerabilities, the multiple impacts of droughts and to exchange ideas and showcase successful experiences in managing drought risk, the Romanian Ministry of Environments, Water and Forests and the National Administration "Romanian Waters" together with the World Bank are organizing an international conference on Drought Risk and Drought Risk Management in Romania and in Europe on October 30 and October 31 at the Novotel, Calea Victoriei 37 in Bucharest, Romania.
