The World Bank organizes a study visit to Portugal within the framework of the project “Technical assistance on support to reduce water loss within the reform of the water sector in Croatia” for Water Experts from Croatia.

The project is funded by the European Union in cooperation with the European Commission’s DG REFORM and implemented by the World Bank. The objective of the project is to support the economy and efficiency of operations of Croatia’s water utility sector by improving capacity of the Public Water Service Providers to reduce excessive losses from water supply systems.

This study tour, taking place in Portugal from April 25 to 29, is focusing on the Portuguese experience in regulating and aggregating water and sanitation services, improving water services delivery efficiency, and reducing water losses.

The objective of the study tour is to strengthen the capacities of the Water Sector Ministry, Water Agency, and selected Public Water Service Providers in service organization as well as their financial and technical self-sustainability, raise the service level, and comply with the EU requirements, with a particular focus on the reduction of water losses.
