WATERVILL Securing Sustainable Water Access for Rural and Mountain Mediterranean Communities

Co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, WATERVILL addresses one of the Mediterranean's most pressing challenges: water scarcity in rural and mountainous areas, where outdated and climate-vulnerable water supply systems threaten public health and economic stability. The project develops innovative, sustainable solutions to modernise rural water management by combining smart technologies, nature-based strategies, and community-led governance, aiming to reduce water loss, improve distribution, and enhance climate resilience. Real-life testing takes place in four pilot areas across Montenegro, North Macedonia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. IAWD participates as an associate partner, contributing its regional expertise in water sector capacity development.

This project is supported by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme co-funded by the European Union.
