A Vibrant Stage in Sofia: Meet Us at Toplocentrala 

Preparations are already well underway: The 2026 Danube Water Forum will convene on 20 – 22 May at Toplocentrala – Regional Centre for Contemporary Art, a modern municipal venue located in Sofia’s South Park. With its contemporary design and dynamic atmosphere, Toplocentrala provides the ideal setting for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and forward-looking discussions.

What to Expect: A Sneak Peak

Guided by the priorities of the EU Water Resilience Strategy, the Forum will explore what water resilience means in practical terms for utilities across the Danube region. A dedicated spotlight on Bulgaria will examine the current state of the national water sector and place recent developments in a broader regional context. Participants can look forward to in-depth technical sessions on smart asset management to strengthen infrastructure and prevent costly failures, on improving water efficiency through loss reduction, data-driven operations, and water reuse, as well as on resource-conscious wastewater management, including circular approaches to sludge and treatment processes. The programme will also highlight the human dimension of resilience, focusing on workforce development, strong partnerships, effective leadership, and the power of collaboration in building resilient utilities.

Call for Poster Submissions: Showcase Your Work 

The event page is now live and includes a Call for Poster Submissions for the dedicated poster session on 22 May. IAWD members, utilities, researchers, and the wider community are warmly invited to submit outline papers by 16 March 2026 to office@iawd.com.
