Guidelines for Public Participation in the Regulation of Urban Water Services

Two publications have been released as outcomes of IWA’s project on Public Participation in the Regulation of Urban Water Services.

This report, ‘Guidelines for Public Participation in the Regulation of Urban Water Services’ looks at the benefits and risks of public participation as well outlining a new framework that aims to serve as a baseline for practitioners when assessing the associated benefits and risks of a public participation approach to regulating urban water services.

Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals recognises public participation as an important means of implementation to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
