Green Deal for the Blue Danube: The European Green Deal and its implications for the Danube region
Organizer: IAWD and World Bank

The Danube Water Program “KnowNow” webinar series focuses on up-to-date topics relevant for the water sector in the Danube region. This webinar will focus on the European Green Deal - the new growth strategy for the EU, aiming to transform it into a climate-neutral, fair and prosperous society, with a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy.

The European Green Deal provides an Action Plan to boost the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy, restore biodiversity and cut pollution. The plan outlines investments needed and financing tools available and explains how to ensure a just and inclusive transition.

But what is particularly in it for water? What are e.g. the zero-pollution action plan, pharmaceuticals and chemicals strategy, circular economy action plan or biodiversity strategy? What are the implications, challenges, and opportunities for the water sector in the Danube Region and how is it financed? The webinar will allow to shed light on these questions.
