Data-driven performance improvement

Since 2024, IAWD has partnered with the World Bank on the implementation of the renewed International Benchmarking Network for Water and Sanitation Utilities (NewIBNET), supporting utility performance improvement through data-driven benchmarking and knowledge exchange as an ambassador for the Danube Region, but with a global mandate to promote NewIBNET internationally. The initiative has been extended to 2025 with a total budget of EUR 96.500. IAWD coordinates regional engagement, provides capacity development support, and facilitates the use of the data platform by utilities in the Danube region, while managing strategic partnerships for NewIBNET worldwide. This ongoing collaboration strengthens evidence-based utility management and informs policymaking at the national and regional level.
