The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management is involved in many international and interdisciplinary projects, among others in the course of excellence funding at RWTH Aachen University. The main research areas are groundwater, floods, design and near-natural hydraulic engineering, coastal and estuarine research, sediment transport, river morphodynamics, and hydropower.
