We proudly present the "Member of the Month" special feature series that provides insights into the work of our members, the successes they achieve, the challenges they overcome, and the thinking behind their IAWD memberships.

We introduce "Member of the Month" because we all know very well that IAWD's success is driven by lively communication, mutual support and shared know-how and experiences. The better we get to know each other, the more positive energy feeds into our community.
 

The core of chapter’s work 

The core of our work lies in three pillars: education, community, and professional experience. Through excursions, workshops, national conferences, and networking events, we bring together students, young professionals, and experts from academia, public institutions, and private companies. Our goal is not only to provide practical opportunities, but also to inspire and empower the next generation of water professionals in the Czech Republic.

Mission statement or philosophy

As young professionals, we are driven by the belief that the water sector needs our energy, creativity, and new perspectives. Our mission in IWA YWP CZ is to create opportunities where we can grow both professionally and personally, while learning from experienced experts and sharing knowledge among our peers. We empower young water professionals to bring fresh energy and innovative ideas into the field.

Three interesting projects and/or key figures

1. One of our proudest achievements is our national biannual conference Young Waters Run Deep, which has become the key event for young water professionals in the Czech Republic, attracting around 100 participants in its last edition. 
2. Over the past year, our member base grew by almost 30%, thanks to our strong focus on community building and creating more opportunities for involvement, such as professional excursions and in-person nonformal meetings (one every 3 months).
3. In addition, in the past two years YWP CZ has been actively involved in popularization activities aimed at improving the quality of excursions at water and wastewater treatment plants, including the development of new methodologies, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities to inspire younger generations and raise awarness about water.
    

Why should young people work in the water sector?

Working in the water sector means being part of a meaningful, diverse field with a great community where every step has a real impact.

Why did you become an IAWD member?

We are truly amazed by how IAWD gives space to young people. Even before officially becoming members, we already felt genuinely welcomed and included, inspired by the way IAWD actively seeks to involve the young generation – something we have not experienced anywhere else to such an extent. Becoming a member was therefore a natural step, as it opens countless opportunities for our members: international networking across the Danube region, knowledge exchange, and new platforms to grow both professionally and personally. We believe that thanks to IAWD, YWP CZ will be able to grow faster, become stronger, and bring even more value to our community and to the water sector as a whole.
