Safe, high-quality drinking water supply is a matter of course for the inhabitants of our region. To be able to maintain this high standard, water suppliers must undertake major efforts and investments, also with a view to the future.

It is the central objective of IAWD to make sure
that every member in the Danube Basin can always produce a sufficient quantity of good-quality drinking water from the river and related groundwater resources. For me, the work done within the scope of IAWD – the protection of drinking water for a great number of people – is the continuation of my regional work at an international level. It is an honour and, at the same time, a challenge.
