IAWD shall promote, on both the national and international levels, joint efforts aimed at avoiding and eliminating dangers to the water supply, such as arise from pollution and other types of impairment of the condition of the Danube, its tributaries (Danube River Catchment Area) and the related groundwater resources, as well as at conserving the purity of the surface water and groundwater resources.

Furthermore, IAWD shall support its members at all questions concerning the security of water supply.
